VIRGINIA MAXINE DROIT DEAN

Herrin–Virginia Maxine Droit Dean 87 passed away on Thursday, August 18, 2011 at 5:15 A.M. at the Herrin Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

Maxine was born on June 18, 1924 in Sturdivant, MO the daughter of Russell and Rhonda (Higgins) Wilson.

She married Sherman Droit on July 25, 1942. He preceded her in death in 1976.

She is survived by her children, Gary Droit and his wife Tricia, Jim Droit and his wife, Nancy, Marilyn Harper and her husband David, David Droit and Rick Droit; grandchildren, Eric Droit, Keith Droit, Delene Franklin, Joe Droit, Rebeccah Fletcher, Sarah Doughtery, Sheleen Scharf , Jennifer Droit, Louis F. Droit, Austin and Jesse Droit, and Daniel Droit; six great grandchildren, Brittany Franklin, Ashley Franklin, Hayley Franklin, Callista Droit, Declan Droit, and Louie Droit; a brother, Leonard Wilson; and a sister, Violet Petersen..

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Sherman Droit; her husband, Guy Dean; her grandson, Christopher; her sister, Jewel Reid.

Maxine exemplified the Proverbs 31 woman, taking care of the needs of her family and those of her friends. She was a woman of great courage and persevered in the face of adversity.

Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday August 22, 2011, at the Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City with Pastor Mark Winner officiating. Interment will be at Dillingham Cemetery east of Johnston City. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
