WALTER CHESTOSKY
Johnston City–Walter Chestosky 86, of Johnston City passed away on Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at 9:35 A.M. at his family home.
Services will be held at the Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City on Friday October 29, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Bob Dickerson officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Marion V.F.W., American Legion and Illinois Army National Guard. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
Walter was born on March 18, 1924 in Johnston City the son of Norbert and Margaret (Yearman) Chestosky. He married Virginia Lang in 1947. They were married for 21 years.
His working career was spent as a carpenter, contractor, and building inspector. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of the Marion V.F.W. He was a veteran of WWII proudly serving in the Army
He is survived by his daughter, Shari Jeter and husband Gale of Marion; grandchildren, Kyle Jeter and wife Sylvia of Coral Springs, FL, Kerry Jeter and wife Sarah of Louisville, KY; great grandchildren, Chanel and Kyle Sebastian of FL, and Abigail Jordan of Louisville, KY.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers, Johnny, Frank, and Robert; and one sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Norman King; sister-in-law, Louise Chestosky; nephews, Gene Allen, Kenneth, and Frank Chestosky; and Pat King; and special friend and companion, Marlene Beavers.
Walter was definitely one of a kind who lived life to the fullest. He was best known for his love of cars and trading them. He was admired by many for his ability to create and fix almost anything. Walter was a practical joker who enjoyed teasing and laughing with everyone.
The family would like to thank all the nurses and doctors at the V.A. who have taken such good care of him through the years. They would also like to give very special thank you to Carol Hansford Piland for her love and care of him that went above and beyond expectations.
He will be greatly missed by all who loved him, family, friends, and trading buddies.
