WALTER G. MUSIAL

Johnston City–Walter G. Musial 87, of Johnston City, passed away on Thursday, June 23, 2011 at 11:40 P.M. at the Herrin Hospital.

Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday July 16, 2011, at the St. Paul's Catholic Church in Johnston City with Father Richard Mohr officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Marion V.F.W., American Legion, and Illinois Army National Guard at the church. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Saturday at the church. Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City is in charge of arrangements.

Walter was born on July 21, 1923 in Chicago, the son of Walter and Julia (Myslewski) Musial. He married Lorraine (Glad) in Chicago in June of 1946. They shared 65 wonderful years together.

Walter worked at International Harvester Company in Chicago as a lab technician retiring to Johnston City in 1982. He proudly served in the Marine Corps during WWII as an aerial photographer in the South Pacific. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 1301 of Marion. He was a member of the St. Paul's Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife of Johnston City; one daughter, Marilyn Durano of Matteson; one son Ronald Musial and wife Sandy of Claremont, FL; four grandsons, Scott Durano and wife Cherene of Peotone, Daryl Durano and wife Melissa of Oak Forest, Paul Musial and wife Ann of Newark, CA, and Carmen Musial and wife Frances of Newark, CA; a great granddaughter, Lyndsee; great grandsons, Nathan and Vincent; and two brothers, Alex Musial and wife Ruth of Lansing and Norbert Musial and wife Florence of Apopka, FL; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Raymond Musial; and two sisters, Irene Wojewoda and Nancy Masny.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Catholic Church in Johnston City or St. Jude Children's Hospital. Envelopes will be available at the church.
