WANDA MARTIN-HENDRIX

West Frankfort-Wanda Martin-Hendrix 82, of West Frankfort passed away at 10:00 P.M. on Friday April 15, 2011 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, IN.

Services will be held on Tuesday April 19, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. at the First Baptist Church in Johnston City with Pastor Larry Stevens officiating. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Monday at the Murman and Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Johnston City. Envelopes will be available at the church and funeral home.

Wanda was born on February 10, 1929 in Johnston City the daughter of William and Hazel (Spitzner) Stevens. She married Ted Martin Sr. on December 18, 1945. He preceded her in death on March 8, 2001. She then married Robert Hendrix, he survives.

Wanda was a loving devoted wife and mother. She loved spending time with her kids and grandkids. She taught Sunday School at the 3rd Baptist Church in West Frankfort for many years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Johnston City.

She is survived by two sons, Ted Martin Jr. and wife Shelia of West Frankfort, and Douglas Martin and wife Cheryl of West Frankfort; five daughters, Janet Filkins and husband Claude Jr. of McLeansboro, Sharon Ward and husband Jim of Lake Alfred, FL., Karen Wheat and husband Larry of Sparta, Janetta Rogers of Harrisburg and Beth Graff of West Frankfort, a sister, Sharon Gibbens of Johnston City, two brothers Bill Stevens and wife Pat of Johnston City Larry Stevens and wife Maurene of Johnston City, twenty-three grandchildren; eighteen great-grand children; and two great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one great-grandchild, Ted T.D. Martin; and two son-in-laws, Ron Rogers and David Graff.
