WANDALEE FEHRENBAKER
Johnston City–Wandalee Fehrenbaker 87, a loving mother, grandmother, and sister, died on Saturday November 5, 2011 at Marion Rehab and Nursing Center.
Services will be held at 1:00 P.M Thursday, November, 10, 2011 at the Murman and Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City with Father Jon Griffin officiating. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery in Johnston City. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Wandalee was born on May 24, 1924 in New Virginia to Harry and Lillian (Rodden) Cusson. She married Don V. Fehrenbaker on May 17, 1947.
Wandalee graduated from Johnston City High School in 1941 and attended Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in Peoria. She was a registered nurse for more than 36 years, working at Herrin Hospital and the V.A Hospitals in Danville and Marion. She was the Director of Nursing at Marion Memorial Hospital.
Wandalee was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in West Frankfort. She was compassionate toward animals, often adopted stray dogs or cats and was an ongoing and enthusiastic contributor to the local humane society. She played golf for many years, enjoyed travel and took many trips with both family and friends. Wandalee loved to sing and perform and as a member of the Paradise Alley Players, was a showstopper at several local productions.
Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Donna and David Busby of Trinity, Florida, and Jo and Johnnie Dodd of Marion; sister, Sammy Lee Smith of Johnston City; three grandsons, Dale Dodd and wife Myrna of Marion, Jimmy Dodd and wife Brandy of Marion, and Damian Busby of Trinity, Florida; four great granddaughters, Katlynn Dodd, Kelsee Dodd, Maddilynn Dodd and Grace Dodd all of Marion.; and nieces and nephews in the state of Washington.
Her parents and her husband preceded her in death.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to the Community Animal Rescue and Education (C.A.R.E.), P.O. Box 313, Carterville, IL 62918. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
