WAYNE F. HARGAN
Johnston City–Wayne F. Hargan 82, of Johnston City passed away at 7:04 A.M. on February 5, 2016 at his family home.
Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday February 9, 2016 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Johnston City with Fr. Charles Anyaoku and Msgr. Ken Schaefer officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Monday at the Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery in Johnston City with Graveside Military Rites conducted by the Marion V.F.W., American Legion, and Army National Guard.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Cardinal Glennon Hospital in St. Louis, MO. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Wayne was born on May 1, 1933 in Mounds the son of Loal and Lora (Johnson) Hargan. He married Orlene (Overturf) on March 11, 1955 in Piggott, AR. She survives.
He was retired from Country Companies working as an insurance agent. He was a graduate of Mounds High School with course work at Purdue University. He was a long time instructor for the Dale Carnegie motivational business courses. He was a Sgt. in the army serving at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO. He was a long time member of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Johnston City and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by one son, Dr. Paul Hargan of St. Louis, MO; one daughter, Patti Martin and husband Ron of Johnston City; daughter-in-law, Tina Hargan of Evansville, IN; grandchildren, Dr. Megan Leitzen and Matt of Johnston City, Mallory Martin of Johnston City, Matthew Hargan of St. louis, MO, Makenzie Hargan of St. Louis, MO, Molly Hargan of California, Lacey Steinkamp and husband Jon of Evansville, IN; great grandchildren, Brennan Hayes of Marion, Kadyn Martin of Johnston City, Marcus Leitzen and Miles Leitzen of Johnston City; a brother, Virgil Hargan and wife Linda of Metropolis; a sister, Laverne Brown of Paducah, KY.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Mark Hargan; a granddaughter, Mindy Martin; 3 brothers, Lowell, Harold, and Robert Hargan; and a sister, Rosemary Martin.
