WILLIAM L. "CHALKY" RESNIK
Carterville-William L. "Chalky" Resnik 87 of Carterville passed away on Wednesday May 16, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. at the Shawnee Christian Nursing Center in Herrin.
Services will be held on Saturday May 19, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin with Msgr. Ken Schaefer officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Saturday at the church. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery in Johnston City. Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church or to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital. Envelopes will be available at the church.
Chalky was born on December 31, 1924 in Johnston City the son of Joseph and Ilona (Eltz) Resnik. He married Jody (Thompson) on October 11, 1958 in Marion. She survives.
Chalky was a retired salesman last working at Excel Mining. He sold roof bolts to underground mines for 30 years.
He was an avid golfer and fisherman. He was a member of the Crab Orchard Golf Course in Carterville. He was a member of the Buccaneer's Club of Johnston City and a member of Elk's Club in Carbondale.
He is survived by a sister, Frances Sternberg of Chicago; several nieces and nephews; and his dog, Joey.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Joe Resnik; and a sister, Margaret Doty.
