WILLIAM "GENE" EUGENE SCHWARTZ

Johnston City–William "Gene" Eugene Schwartz 89, of Johnston City passed away on Sunday, June 27, 2010 at 6:35 A.M. at the Herrin Hospital.

Services will be held at the Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City on Wednesday June 30, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. with Pastor Lee Petty officiating. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery of Johnston City. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. till 8:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home with Masonic Rites held at 7:00 P.M. conducted by the Lake Creek Masonic Lodge #729 of Johnston City.

Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church of Johnston City. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Gene was born on October 12, 1920 in Johnston City, the son of Edward Philip and Lois Oletha (Dusch) Schwartz.

He retired as a machinist at Caterpillar in Decatur after 27 years. He was a licensed barber and a member of the Lake Creek Masonic Lodge #729 in Johnston City. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Johnston City.

He is survived by a sister-in-law, Frances Schwartz of Angleton, TX; a nephew, Jimmy Schwartz and wife Nancy of Angleton, TX; 2 great nieces, Allyson and Erin Schwartz of Angleton, TX; a great-great nephew, Addison Schwartz of Angleton, TX; a niece, Janie Schwartz-Shaw and husband James of Angleton, TX; and a great nephew, Drew Blawvelt, of Angleton, TX.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Edward "Puzz" Schwartz.
