WILLIAM E. LISAIUS

Marion-William E. Lisaius 93 formerly of Whiteash passed away on Wednesday March 28, 2012 at 3:56 A.M. at the Helia Healthcare of Benton..

Ed was born on March 7, 1919 in Johnston City the son of Anthony and Anna (Tomasunas) Lisaius.

He was a Catholic. He was a graduate of Bradley University in Peoria class of 1949 with a BSME degree. He was a TKE fraternity member. He retired from from the Main Post Office in Detroit, MI in 1980. Mr. Lisaius proudly served his country in WWII in the Army Air Corps. Having been in North Africa he participated in the invasions of Sicily and Italy. He was a member of the Marion V.F.W. Post 1301 and American Legion Post 147.

He is survived by a sister-in-law, Irene Lisaius of Tucson, AZ; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Anthony and Anna Lisaius; four brothers, George, Tony, Frank, and Algird; four sisters, infant Anna, Maggie Winters, Blanche Parr, and Eva Jackson.

As Mr. Lisaius remembered the Great Depression of the early1930's: "We were very fortunate in having this great educator in Southern Illinois, the late Mr. J.L. Buford, as the principal of Johnston City Township High School. As an Orator, he gave us hope where there was 'total despair'. This is my thanks to Mr. Buford."

Per his request he will be cremated. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the Marion V.F.W., American Legion, and Illinois Army National Guard on Saturday March 31, 2012 at the Maplewood Cemetery in Marion at 11:00 A.M. Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City is in charge of arrangements.
