WILLIAM STEVEN "BEAR" MOAKE

Cave-In-Rock–William Steven "Bear" Moake 62, of Cave-In-Rock formerly of Johnston City passed away at 11:25: A.M. on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at his family home.

Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Sunday September 1, 2013, at the Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City with Pastor Barry Robertson officiating. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery of Johnston City. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M to 8:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home.

Steve was born on November 8, 1950, in Herrin, the son of William A. and Jane E. (Engram) Moake. He married Melanie A. (Leonberger) on July 2, 1994 in Cave-In-Rock. She survives.

Bear was a self employed carpenter and was previously employed in the coal mines. He graduated from Johnston City High School in 1968. He was a member of the Washington Avenue Baptist Church of Johnston City. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived by a step-son, Bradley Walker and wife Melissa of Equality; four grandchildren, Aaliyah, Hunter, Jacob, and Reese; a sister, Janice Nix of Carbondale; a special cousin, Cheryl Francis; special friends, Danny and Debbie Chapman, Les and Susana Brown, and Jeff and MaryAnn Bishop, Dava Walker and son Connor; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; and his animal companions, Jesse, Sally, Beauty, and River.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother-in-law, Henry "Tiney" Nix Jr.
