WILLIAM J. RICE SR.

Johnston City-William J. Rice Sr. 78 passed away at 4:18 A.M. at home surrounded by his family.

William was born on March 23, 1946, in Geneva the son of Leroy and Grace Mae (Learned) Rice. He was married to Judy (Butt) on January 21, 1967, in Westminster, California. Together they shared 57 years of marriage. She survives.

William is also survived by children; Bill Jr. and wife Rose, Theresa Rice, and John Rice, grandchildren; Allan Chamizo, Leigha (Jamar) Miller, Aston (Courtney) McIntosh, several great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He is also survived by a sister Linda Outcalt, brother-in-law's Phil (Nancy) Butt, Gary "Stony" Burk, John Butt, and a sister-in-law Elsie Wheat.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Mike, Jim, and Kenny Rice.

Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday October 4, 2024, at the Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City with Jim Murphy officiating. Burial will be in the Mounds National Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the U.S. Navy Burial Detail Team at 1:00 P.M. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Friday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to V.F.W. Post 1301.
