Obituary

WILLIS SUMMERS

Johnston City–Willis Summers 84, of Johnston City, was called home on Friday, July 14, 2017 at 10:29 A.M. at his family home peacefully with his wife of 65 years and his grandson Jon at his side.

Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, July 18, 2017, at Murman & Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City with Pastor Larry Stevens officiating. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M to 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Willis was born on September 21, 1932 in Effingham the son of Ray and Jane (Coffee) Summers. He married Patricia (Smith) in August of 1952. She survives.

Willis moved to Johnston City as a youth. He was a police officer for Johnston City and he retired from Brushy Creek Coal. He also worked at Inland Steel, Colombo Garage, and Romano Stone Quarry.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Patricia N. Summers; one daughter, Kim Summers Evans and husband Allen of Johnston City; grandsons, Jon Summers and wife Beth, Rex Summers, Hannah Summers, Nick Summers, Ashley Rogers and husband Keith, Alex Evans all from Johnston City; 2 great grandchildren, Jillian and Kobie Tanner of Johnston City.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Vicki Summers; a son, Mitchell Eric Summers; a brother, Butch Brown and wife Mary Ellen; and a sister, Alice Giacomo.
