BRENDA LOUISE SHELTON
It is with great sadness that the family of Brenda Louise Shelton announces her passing. Brenda died on Thursday, March 10, 2022 at Herrin Hospital with her family by her side. Born on August 13, 1946 in Herrin, Illinois she was the daughter of the late George and Agnes Wade Shemwell.
Brenda lived in both Herrin, IL and the Chicagoland area and attended various schools. Brenda married and started a family at a very young age. She spent many years as a single parent and overcame the challenges and financial adversities of raising four children on her own. She worked hard and was always able to provide what was needed. In October of 1980, she married the love of her life, William Keith Shelton. Brenda and Keith were married for over 41 years and spent 24 years living in Scottsdale, AZ until she returned to Herrin, IL to be with her mother.
Brenda continued to work on and off throughout her life. Her main livelihood was that of a care giver, in her later years she was a licensed home day care provider. In addition to raising her own children, she raised a granddaughter and was a mother to many others.
Brenda was preceded in death by her father, her beloved mother, and many aunts and uncles. She is survived by her husband, William Keith; three daughters, Lesa (John) Riczo, Rachele (Scott) Davie and Angela (Steve) Marvel; one son, Scott Alan Walker; six grandchildren, Adam Marvel, Raele Walker, Andie Marvel, Natalee Davie, Sophia Davie, and Max Riczo; one brother, George Shemwell, Jr. and his wife Patricia. Two sister-in-laws, Kay (Randy) Litton and Kim Kerr; one brother-in-law, Kevin Shelton. Several nieces, nephews and cousins. She will be missed by all those whose lives she touched.
A Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at Murman and Wilson Funeral Home, 211 W. Broadway, Johnston City. Visitation hours will be held from 12:00 Noon – 2:00 P.M. followed by a prayer service, to be officiated by Pastor Chris Behan. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association and envelopes will be available at the funeral home or may be mailed to Alzheimer's Association, Greater Illinois Chapter, 320 East Walnut Street, Ste. A, Carbondale, IL 62901.
